Goat anti Human complement factor H antibody recognizes complement factor H, also known as H factor 1.
CFH, the gene encoding complement factor H, is a member of the regulator of complement activation (RCA) gene cluster. Complement factor H contains twenty short consensus repeat (SCR) domains, is secreted into the bloodstream and has an essential role in the regulation of complement activation, restricting this innate defense mechanism to microbial infections. Mutations in complement factor H have been associated with hemolytic-uremic syndrome (HUS) and chronic hypocomplementemic nephropathy. Alternate transcriptional splice variants, encoding different isoforms, have been characterized (provided by RefSeq, Oct 2011).
Goat anti Human complement factor H antibody detects a band of 155 kDa. The antibody has been extensively validated for western blotting using human plasma samples.
