CD254 antibody

CD254 is highly expressed by T lymphocytes and osteoblastic cells and plays a key role in the differentiation and activation of osteoclast precursors, acting as a ligand for both receptor activator of NF-KBeta (RANK) and the decoy receptor osteoprotegerin (OPG), which act as antagonists. Binding of CD254 to RANK is essential for the activation of osteoclastogenesis, stimulated by factors such as TNF-alpha, IL-1beta, IL-6 and IL-17, whereas binding to OPG neutralizes CD254, thereby inhibiting osteoclastogenesis.
CD254 augments the dendritic cell (DC) stimulation of naïve T cell proliferation and may be involved in the regulation of DC-T cell interactions. CD254 is also involved in apoptosis, through activation of the antiapoptotic kinase AKT/PKB and the mTOR/S6K signalling pathway.
