Rabbit anti ASK1 (pSer966) antibody recognizes apoptosis signal-regulating kinase 1 (ASK1), also known as mitogen-activated protein kinase kinase kinase 5 (MAP3K5) and MAPK/ERK kinase kinase 5 (MEKK 5), when phosphorylated at serine 966. ASK1 is a serine/threonine kinase that plays an important role in the apoptotic response to various stimuli including oxidative stress, cytokines (e.g. TNF) and endoplasmic reticulum stress.

When phosphorylated at serine 966, ASK1 interacts with 14-3-3 protein family members, inhibiting ASK1 mediated apoptosis. ASK1 is dephosphorylated at serine 966 in response to H2O2, activating ASK1(Goldman and Chen 2004).
