Rabbit anti Human AIF antibody recognizes human apoptosis-inducing factor 1, mitochondrial, also known as AIF or programmed cell death protein 8. Human AIF is a 613 amino acid mitochondrial protein bearing a 54 amino acid N-terminal transit peptide and a 47 amino acid propeptide region adjacent. The mature peptide is a 512 amino acid ~67 kDa mitochondrial intermembrane space protein formed during apoptosis. Rabbit anti Human AIF antibody reacts with the N-terminal region of the mature protein. AIF is widely expressed in human tissues and is released to the cytoplasm and then translocates to the nucleus on certain death signals where it is involved in the induction of nuclear apoptosis (Kim et al. 2006).

- Antisera to AIF (NT) were raised by repeated immunisation of rabbit with highly purified antigen. Purified IgG was prepared from whole serum by ion exchange chromatography.

Storage in frost free freezers is not recommended. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing as this may denature the protein. Should this product contain a precipitate we recommend microcentrifugation before use.
