Rabbit anti Mouse ST2 (N-Terminal) antibody recognizes an epitope within the N-Terminal region (NT) of mouse ST2, a member of the Toll-interleukin 1 receptor (TIR) superfamily, expressed by mast cells and TH2 helper cells, but not by TH1 effector cells.

The majority of TIR superfamily members, which includes the Interleukin-1 receptor (IL-1R1), Toll-like receptors (TLRs) and the cytosolic adaptor proteins MyD88, TIRAP, Trif and TRAM, initiate innate immunity through the ultimate activation of the transcription factor NF-kappaB and are inducers of the inflammatory response. In contrast ST2, which itself is unable to activate NF-kappaB, has been identified as a negative regulator of IL-1R1 and TLR4 signaling by sequestering MyD88 and TIRAP in line with its role as a crucial receptor in TH2-cell mediated responses (Brint et al. 2004 and Coyle et al. 1999).

This product is shipped at ambient temperature. It is recommended to aliquot and store at -20°C on receipt. When thawed, aliquot the sample as needed. Keep aliquots at 2-8°C for short term use (up to 4 weeks) and store the remaining aliquots at -20°C.

Avoid repeated freezing and thawing as this may denature the antibody. Storage in frost-free freezers is not recommended.

This product has been reported to work in the following applications. This information is derived from testing within our laboratories, peer-reviewed publications or personal communications from the originators.
