| Rat anti Mouse interleukin 17 antibody, clone TC11-8H4 recognizes mouse interleukin 17, a 32kDa disulfide-linked homodimer consisting of two 136 amino acid chains belonging to the IL-17 family (classified as IL-17A to IL-17F), and signals through the IL-17 receptor (IL-17R/CDw217). IL-17 is produced primarily by activated CD4+ T cells and induces a variety of target cells to secrete inflammatory cytokines, including IL-1beta, IL-6, TNFalpha, IFNgamma and granulocyte colony-stimulating factor, as well as synergizing with other inflammatory cytokines and agonists. IL-17 plays a role in the development of rheumatoid arthritis, with levels of IL-17 significantly increased and may contribute to bone destruction (Chabaud et al. 2000). Rat anti mouse interleukin-17 antibody has been successfully used for the identification of IL-17 secreting cells in a murine anti-tumor immunity model by ELISPOT analysis (Yu et al. 2013) |
