    • Rabbit anti Mouse glutathione peroxidase 4 antibody detects the carboxy-terminal region of mouse glutathione peroxidise 4 (GPx4) also known as phospholipid hydroperoxidase (PHGPx). GPx4 is a 20-22 kDa selenoprotein that has an important role in preventing lipid peroxidation, and is thought to protect biomembranes against oxidative stress.

GPx4 is expressed in high levels in testes, suggesting a role in male fertility. It has also been identified as an enzymatically inactive structural protein of the mitochondrial capsule of sperm. GPx4 has also been proposed as a modulator of various eicosanoids, which serve as inflammatory lipid signalling molecules.
