Rat anti Forssmann glycosphingolipid antibody, clone FOM-1 recognizes Forssmann glycosphingolipid (FO GSL).
FO GSL is a glycosphingolipid differentiation antigen, present on macrophages in the red pulp of the spleen, and the medulla of inguinal and axial lymph nodes. FO GSL is also present on reticular cells in the T-cell area of the spleen and lymph nodes. A subpopulation of FOM-1 positive macrophages also appear in the peritoneal cavity in response to inflammatory stimuli. Monocytes, granulocytes and other macrophages in lymphoid and non-lymphoid organs are not stained by Rat anti Forssmann glycosphingolipid antibody, clone FOM-1.
Rat anti Forssmann glycosphingolipid antibody, clone FOM-1 also recognizes a marker present on sheep erythrocytes.
