Tigar antibody | Woody-1
Mouse anti TIGAR antibody clone Woody-1 recognizes TIGAR also known as TP53-induced glycolysis and apoptosis regulator and TP53-induced glycolysis regulatory phosphatase. TIGAR is a fructose 2,6 bisphosphatase whose expression is induced by the transcription factor p53 in response to oxidative stress. TIGAR, as it slows down the glycolytic rate, and the accumulation of 2,6 fructose 2,6-bisphosphate has a protective role that prevents cells from "acquiring cancer hallmarks" (Bensaad et al. 2006). In addition, TIGAR protects cells by reducing the amount of reactive oxygen species, thereby preventing DNA damage caused by reactive oxygen species (Gottlieb and Vousden, 2010). TIGAR by mediating reactive oxygen levels has also been shown to regulate reactive oxygen induced apoptotic responses (Bensaad et al. 2006).
