Mouse anti SIRT2 antibody recognizes NAD-dependent protein deacetylase sirtuin-2, also known as regulatory protein SIR2 homolog 2. SIRT2 is a NAD+-dependent deacetylase which belongs to the sirtuin family and plays a wide range of roles in the nervous system, regulation of mitosis, genome integrity, cell differentiation, infection, inflammation, and in many other processes (Wang et al. 2019). SIRT2 also has diverse roles in metabolism. Consistent with its multiple roles, SIRT2 is expressed in a wide range of tissues, particularly tissues which are metabolically active such as the heart, brain, and adipose tissue (Tang et al. 2017). SIRT2 has been shown to have tumor-promoting activity. Inhibition of SIRT2 has been found to promote ubiquitination and degradation of c-Myc and has broad anticancer effects across a range of human cancer cell lines (Jing et al. 2016).
