| Rabbit anti SATB2 antibody recognizes DNA-binding protein SATB2, also known as special AT-rich sequence-binding protein 2. SATB2 is a transcription factor which can bind to matrix-attachment regions (MARs) and activate transcription of multiple genes simultaneously. This allows SATB2 to act as a high-level regulator of multiple networks involved with development (Zarate and Fish 2016). SATB2 is highly expressed in the brain and plays a role in development of the central nervous system and neocortical organization. It also plays a role in differentiation of osteoblasts (Berg et al. 2016). Mutations in the gene encoding SATB2 can lead to SATB2-associated syndrome, characterized by developmental delay, intellectual disability, speech and behavioural problems, and craniofacial abnormalities (Whitton et al. 2018). |
