Rabbit anti Human PTEN tumor suppressor protein antibody recognizes phosphatidylinositol 3,4,5-trisphosphate 3-phosphatase and dual-specificity protein phosphatase PTEN, also known as MMAC1, TEP1. PTEN is a lipid and protein phosphatase that can suppress the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway, which plays roles in regulating cell metabolism, survival, proliferation, apoptosis, growth and migration. In this way, PTEN acts as a tumor suppressor, and loss of PTEN drives many human cancers. Mutations in PIK3CA, PTEN, and/or AKT1 are present in over 40% of uterine, lung, breast, prostate, brain, and head and neck cancers (Chang et al. 2019). PTEN also has important roles in immune signaling pathways, regulates immune cell development, and helps generate antiviral responses (Chen and Guo 2017). In the nucleus, PTEN has also been found to mediate cellular proliferation and stablize the genome (Morotti et al. 2015). |
