Mouse anti MyD88 antibody recognizes myeloid differentiation primary response protein MyD88. MyD88 is the primary mediator of inflammatory pathways downstream of the Toll-like receptor (TLR) and interleukin-1 (IL-1) receptor families, achieving these functions by activating IRAK family kinases. Accordingly, MyD88 plays an important role in innate immune signaling (Deguine and Barton 2014). MyD88 is also able to modulate energy, glucose, and lipid metabolism, acting as a nutrient sensor in the intestinal epithelium and controlling energy expenditure (Lefort et al. 2019). A role in immune response to allergens has also been identified for MyD88 (Thomas et al. 2018). Disruption of the gene encoding MyD88 has been found to suppress a range of tumor types in mice. Accordingly, it has been suggested that signaling through MyD88 promotes tumorigenesis (Echizen et al. 2016). Consistent with this, mutations in the gene encoding MyD88 leads to cancer development (Hindi et al. 2017).
