| Mouse anti IRF8 antibody recognizes interferon regulatory factor 8, also known as ICSBP. IRF8 is an interferon regulatory factor, a group of proteins with essential roles in the innate and adaptive immune system. IRF8 is a transcription factor, and an important regulator of the function of macrophages, B-cells and dendritic cells, and of differentiation of Th9, Th17, and Treg cells (Humblin et al. 2017). IRF8 also facilitates the proliferative burst of natural killer cells during acute viral infection (Adams et al. 2018). IRF8 appears to act as a tumor suppressor in various cancers, including myeloid leukemia (Gaillard et al. 2018) and breast cancers, with IRF8 downregulated in breast cancers and restoration of gene function suppressing cell proliferation and other processes (Luo et al. 2017). |
