| Mouse anti Human interleukin-9 antibody, clone MH9A4 recognizes interleukin-9 (IL-9), also known as cytokine P40 and T cell growth factor P40. IL-9 is a 14 kDa pro-inflammatory cytokine, secreted predominantly by T cells. Initally associated with the Th2 phenotype, IL-9 is now known to be secreted by other Th subsets including Th17. Through its interaction with the interleukin-9 receptor, and the downstream activation of STAT3, MAPK and PI3K pathways, IL-9 stimulates immune cell proliferation and inhibits apoptosis. IL-9 has long been recognized as an important mediator of asthma and the allergic response. |
