| Mouse anti GADD45A antibody recognizes growth arrest and DNA damage-inducible protein GADD45 alpha, also known as DDIT-1, GADD45. GADD45A is a stress response protein belonging to the DNA damage-inducible 45 family and promotes active DNA methylation (Arab et al. 2019). In response to physiological or environmental stress GADD45A assists in DNA repair, cell cycle arrest and apoptosis, and other growth regulatory processes (Liu et al. 2018). A broad range of signaling pathways are linked to GADD45S, including p38 and JNK MAP kinases, BRCA1, FOXOA3 and ATF4. Accordingly, GADD45A has been shown to interact with a variety of proteins including cdc2. GADD45A is a direct transcriptional target of the tumor suppressor FOXO3A (Han et al. 2019). It is also a downstream target of p53 and BRCA1. Because it plays a role in genome stability, GADD45A has been implicated in a range of cancer types. Elevated GADD45A levels have been observed in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma and breast cancer, for example (Wang et al. 2018). |
