| Rabbit anti Human EIF2S1 antibody recognizes eukaryotic translation initiation factor 2 subunit 1 (EIF2S1), also known as EIF2A, when phosphorylated at serine 51. EIF2S1 functions in protein synthesis; it binds GTP and Met-tRNAi and transfers Met-tRNAi to the 40S ribosomal subunit (Kimball 1999). EIF2S1 phosphorylation at serine 51 is a determinant of survival and adaptation of glucose-deficient cells (Muaddi et al. 2010). It has been also demonstrated that EIF2S1 phosphorylated at serine 51 acts as a molecular switch that determines the cell fate decisions by activated Akt in response to activated stress (Rajesh et al. 2015). EIF2S1 is essential for tumorigenesis and progression, and has been correlated with poor prognosis in patients with breast cancer (Chen et al. 2019). |
