Mouse anti Human desmin antibody, clone OTI4G1 recognizes desmin, also known as intermediate filament protein.

The DES gene encodes a muscle-specific class III intermediate filament. Homopolymers of this protein form a stable intracytoplasmic filamentous network connecting myofibrils to each other and to the plasma membrane. Mutations in DES are associated with desmin-related myopathy, a familial cardiac and skeletal myopathy (CSM), and with distal myopathies (provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008).

Mouse anti Human desmin antibody detects a band of 53 kDa. The antibody has been extensively validated for western blotting using whole cell lysates.
