ACTININ-1 antibody | rAB01-3G11
Actinin-1 is a cytoskeletal protein that binds actin in multiple cell types and cytoskeleton frameworks. Actinin-1 is located along the actin filaments and in adhesion sites in non-muscle cells, and at the Z-disk and analogous dense bodies in striated, cardiac and smooth muscle cells. The protein is important for organization of the cytoskeleton and for muscle contraction (Sjöblom et al. 2008), as well as cell adhesion and migration. Mutations in the gene encoding actinin-1 lead to the platelet disorder macrothrombocytopenia, associated with excessive bleeding (Murphy and Young 2015). In breast cancer patients, increased expression of actinin-1 has been identified and associates with poor prognosis in basal-like subtypes. It has been suggested as a potential prognostic biomarker in basal-like breast cancer (Kovac et al. 2018).
