TIMP-1 (Tissue Inhibitor of Metalloproteinase -1), is a secreted glycoprotein and member of the protease inhibitor I35 (TIMP) family, which is expressed by a wide range of cells, including microvascular endothelial cells, smooth muscle cells, mesangial cells, and some fibroblasts. TIMP-1 acts as a natural extracellular inhibitor of MMPs (matrix metalloproteinases), a group of peptidases involved in degradation of the extracellular matrix, and is also involved in erythropoiesis, through the simulation of the proliferation/differentiation of erythroid progenitors. Studies have shown that a correlation between localized concentrations of TIMP-1 and TIMP-3, may determine cell fate, and that increased expression of TIMP-1, may act as an inhibitor/suppressor of invasive cell growth.
Purified recombinant protein - lyophilised
Reconstitute with 100ul distilled water Care should be taken during reconstitution as the protein may appear as a film at the bottom of the vial. Bio-Rad recommend that the vial is gently mixed after reconstitution. For extended storage, the addition of 0.1% BSa is recommended.
Purified recombinant TIMP-1 expressed in E.coli
TIMP-1 activity was measured by its ability to inhibit human MMP-1 induced hydrolysis of a chromogenic peptide substrate at room temperature. Half maximal inhibition was obtained at a TIMP-1 concentration of approximately 0.5 μg/ml and MMP-1 concentration of 1.6 μg/ml.

Prior to reconstitution store at +4oC. After reconstitution store at -20oC. Storage in frost-free freezers is not recommended. This product should be stored undiluted. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing as this may denature the antibody. Should this product contain a precipitate we recommend microcentrifugation before use.
