    • Mouse anti Human RUNX2 antibody, clone 4D5 recognizes human Runt-related transcription factor 2, also known as RUNX2, Acute myeloid leukemia 3 protein, Core-binding factor subunit alpha-1, Oncogene AML-3, Osteoblast-specific transcription factor 2, Polyomavirus enhancer-binding protein 2 alpha A subunit, SL3-3 enhancer factor 1 alpha A subunit or SL3/AKV core-binding factor alpha A subunit. Runx2 is a 521 amino acid ~60 kDa transcription factor involved in osteoblastic differentiation and skeletal morphogenesis.

Mutations in the RUNX2 gene can lead to the development of Cleidocranial dysplasia (CLCD) a skeletal disorder characterized by persistently open skull sutures. wormian bones, extra teeth and short stature (Lee et al. 1997). Mutations on the RUNX2 gene can also lead to presentation of Metaphyseal dysplasia with maxillary hypoplasia with or without brachydactyly (MDMHB) a developmental disease with metaphyseal flaring of long bones, variable brachydactyly, and dystrophic teeth (Moffatt et al 2013).
