    • Sheep anti Human Placental Lactogen antibody recognizes human placental lactogen (HPL), also known as Chorionic somatomammotropin hormone 1 or Choriomammotropin. HPL is a 217 amino acid secreted hormone from the somatotropin/prolactin family. HPL is highly expressed in the placental syncitialtrophoblasts hence, only present during pregnancy where it plays a role in providing the growing fetus with energy.

HPL has a similar structure and function to human growth hormone. Sheep anti human placental lactogen antibody shows the following reactivity with similar hormones:

      Human growth hormone (HGH)<0.1%
      Prolactin <0.1%
      Chrorionic gonadotrophin<0.1%
      Luteinising hormone<0.1%
      Follicle stimulating hormone<0.1%
