PAI-1 (plasminogen activator inhibitor-1) is a serine protease inhibitor and member of the serpin family, which acts as the primary inhibitor of tissue plasminogen activator (tPA) and urokinase plasminogen activator (uPA), and hence fibrinolysis.
Increased levels of PAI-1 are associated with diabetes, cardiovascular disease and an increased occurrence of thrombosis in obesity, and can be induced by obesity related factors including insulin, glucose and VLDL (very-low-density lipoprotein).
Purified recombinant protein - lyophilised
Reconstitute with 100ul distilled water. Care should be taken during reconstitution as the protein may appear as a film at the bottom of the vial. Bio-Rad recommend that the vial is gently mixed after reconstitution. For extended sotrage, the addition of 0.1% BSA is recommended.
Purified recombinant PAI-1 expressed in E.coli.
Determined by its inhibitory effect against single chain tPA induced cleavage of a chromogenic substrate in Imidazole Buffer at 37oC. Half maximal inhibition against 1.0 μg/ml of single chain tPA was obtained at a concentration of 2.0 μg/ml.
>95% by SDS PAGE and HPLC analysis.
Approx. Protein Concentrations
0.1mg/ml after reconstitution
42.7kD (379 amino acid residues).

Prior to reconstitution store at +4oC. After reconstitution store at -20oC. Storage in frost-free freezers is not recommended. This product should be stored undiluted. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing as this may denature the antibody. Should this product contain a precipitate we recommend microcentrifugation before use.
