    • Mouse anti Human myosin heavy chain 9 antibody, clone 4H3 recognizes human myosin-9, also known as myosin heavy chain 9, Cellular myosin heavy chain; type A, Myosin heavy chain 9, Myosin heavy chain, non-muscle IIa, Non-muscle myosin heavy chain A, NMMHC-A or Non-muscle myosin heavy chain IIa. myosin-9 is a 1959 amino acid ~230 kDa cellular myosin playing an important role in cytoskeletal reorganization during cell spreading, also plays roles in cytokinesis, secretion and capping. Myosin-9 is highly expressed in the kidney glomeruli (Arrondel et al. 2002) and is expressed in leukocytes (Toothaker et al. 1991).

      Two isoforms of Myosin-9 produced by alternative splicing have been described. Mouse anti Human myosin heavy chain 9 antibody, clone 4H3 recognizes the canonical isoform 1. Binding to isoform 2 which has the n-terminal 5 amino acids of the immunogen used for the generation of clone 4H3 missing, has not been established (UniProt : P35579).

      Mutations in the MYH9 gene can lead to a number of thrombocytopenic disorders including May-Hegglin anomaly (MHA), Sebastian syndrome (SBS), Fechtner syndrome (FTNS), Alport syndrome, with macrothrombocytopenia (APSM) and Macrothrombocytopenia and progressive sensorineural deafness (MPSD). Mutations in the MHY9 gene can als lead to Deafness, autosomal dominant, 17 (DFNA17), a form deafness characterized by progressive high frequency hearing impairment and cochleosaccular degeneration (Lalwani et al. 2000).
