MEK 1/2 (pSer218/pSer222) Antibody

MEK 1/2 (pSer218/pSer222) Antibody gallery image 1

Western blot of NIH 3T3 cell lysates. The cells were serum starved (control) or incubated in the presence of serum (serum) for 5 minutes. The western blot shows the immunolabeling of the ~45 kDa MEK1/2 was absent in control and stimulated by serum

    • Rabbit anti MEK 1/2 (pSer218/pSer222) antibody recognizes MAPK/ERK kinase 1 (MEK 1) and MAPK/ERK kinase 2 (MEK 1), also known as MAP kinase kinase 1 (MAPKK 1) and MAP kinase kinase 2 (MAPKK 2) respectively, when phosphorylated at serine 218 and 222.

MEK1 and 2 are related dual specificity protein kinases from the MAP kinase family. These proteins are activated by phosphoryation at serine 218 and 222, and play a critical role in mitogen growth factor signal transduction.

For the detection of phosphoproteins, serine phosphatase inhibitors such as 10mM Sodium Fluoride should be added to the sample buffer. Milk or other casein-based blocking solutions are not recommended as casein is a phosphoprotein and its use can result in high background.

    • Where this antibody has not been tested for use in a particular technique this does not necessarily exclude its use in such procedures. Suggested working dilutions are given as a guide only. It is recommended that the user titrates the antibody for use in their own system using appropriate negative/positive controls.
