| Mouse anti Human glutathione synthetase antibody, clone OTI2F2 recognizes glutathione synthetase, also known as GSH synthetase, GSS, GSH-S, epididymis secretory sperm binding protein Li 64p and epididymis secretory sperm binding protein Li 88n. Glutathione is important for a variety of biological functions, including protection of cells from oxidative damage by free radicals, detoxification of xenobiotics, and membrane transport. Encoded by the GSS gene, glutathione synthetase functions as a homodimer to catalyze the second step of glutathione biosynthesis, which is the ATP-dependent conversion of gamma-L-glutamyl-L-cysteine to glutathione. Defects in GSS are a cause of glutathione synthetase deficiency (provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008). Mouse anti Human glutathione synthetase antibody detects a band of 52 kDa. The antibody has been extensively validated for western blotting using whole cell lysates. |
