    • Glial cell-derived neurotrophic factor (GDNF), is 30kDa neurotrophic factor and member of the cysteine knot superfamily of growth factors.

GDNF binds GDNF alpha receptor which leads to the activation of Ret protein tyrosine kinase receptor, promoting dopamine uptake and the survival and morphological differentiation of midbrain neurons. GDNF has been shown to improve conditions such as bradykinesia, rigidity and postural instability in Parkinson’s disease mouse models. Defects in the GDNF gene may cause Hirschsprung disease and congenital central hypoventilation syndrome.
    • Intended Use
    • Target Species
      Human
    • Product Form
      Purified recombinant protein - lyophilised
    • Reconstitution
      Reconstitute with 0.1ml distilled water.
Care should be taken during reconstitution as the protein may appear as a film at the bottom of the vial. Bio-Rad recommend that the vial is gently mixed after reconstitution.
    • Preparation
Purified recombinant human GDNF, expressed in E. coli
    • Preservative Stabilisers
      None present
    • Activity
Determined by the dose-dependent dopamine uptake by rat mesencephalic cultures was found to be in the range of 5-10 ng/ml.
    • Purity
      >98% by SDS PAGE and HPLC analysis.
    • Approx. Protein Concentrations
Total protein concentration 0.1mg/ml after reconstitution.
    • Molecular Weight
      30kD

    • Buffer Solution
      Citrate buffered saline
    • Storage
Prior to reconstitution store at +4oC.
      After reconstitution store at -20oC.
Storage in frost-free freezers is not recommended.
This product should be stored undiluted. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing as this may denature the antibody. Should this product contain a precipitate we recommend microcentrifugation before use.
    • Shelf Life
3 months from date of reconstitution.
