Goat anti Human furin antibody recognizes an epitope within the C-Terminal (CT) region of furin, otherwise known as PACE (Paired basic Amino acid Cleaving Enzyme). Furin is a calcium-dependent serine endoprotease and proprotein convertase, which plays a crucial role in the processing of latent precursor proteins into their biologically active forms, such as during the Notch signaling pathway.

The Notch signaling pathway is an evolutionarily conserved pathway in multicellular organisms, vital for cell-cell communication, important during fundamental developmental and physiological processes, including regulation of cell fate decisions during neuronal, cardiac and endocrine development, stem cell hematopoiesis, thymic T cell development, and both tumor progression and suppression.

Furin is a critical enzyme during the S1 cleavage of pre-Notch proteins within the golgi apparatus, to convert the nascent form into the mature heterodimeric Notch receptor and the non-covalently associated intracellular domain. These are then transported to the cell surface, in preparation for ligand-receptor binding and further S2 and S3 cleavage, resulting in the release and translocation of the intracellular domain to the nucleus.

This product is shipped at ambient temperature. It is recommended to aliquot and store at -20°C on receipt. When thawed, aliquot the sample as needed. Keep aliquots at 2-8°C for short term use (up to 4 weeks) and store the remaining aliquots at -20°C.

Avoid repeated freezing and thawing as this may denature the antibody. Storage in frost-free freezers is not recommended.

This product has been reported to work in the following applications. This information is derived from testing within our laboratories, peer-reviewed publications or personal communications from the originators.
