| Mouse anti Human EIF4E antibody, recognizes the eukaryotic translation initiation factor 4E, also known as eIF-4E, eIF-4F 25 kDa subunit, eukaryotic translation initiation factor 4E-like 1 or mRNA cap-binding protein. The protein encoded by the EIF4E gene is a component of the eukaryotic translation initiation factor 4F complex, which recognizes the 7-methylguanosine cap structure at the 5' end of cellular mRNAs. The encoded protein aids in translation initiation by recruiting ribosomes to the mRNA. Association of this protein with the 4F complex is the rate-limiting step in translation initiation. Three transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for EIF4E (provided by RefSeq, Jan 2012). Mouse anti Human EIF4E antibody detects a band of 28 kDa. The antibody has been extensively validated for western blotting using whole cell lysates. |
