| Rabbit anti human Defensinβ-3 polyclonal antibody recognizes human defensin beta 3 (BD-3), a 45aa ~5 kDa cationic non-haemolytic antimicrobial peptide expressed by epithelial cells and member of the beta-defensin family. Defensin beta 3 is highly expressed in the skin and tonsils and at lower levels in other tissues(Harder et al. 2001). Defensin beta 3 plays an important role in the innate immune response to potentially pathogenic microbes, including multiresistant S. aureus and vancomycin-resistant E. faecium. |

Care should be taken during reconstitution as the protein may appear as a film at the bottom of the vial. Bio-Rad recommend that the vial is gently mixed after reconstitution. For long term storage the addition of 0.09% sodium azide is recommended. - Antiserum Preparation
- Antiserum to human defensin beta 3 was raised by repeated immunisation of rabbits with highly purified antigen. Purified IgG was prepared by affinity chromatography.
