Bone morphogenetic protein 13 (BMP-13), otherwise known as growth differentiation factor 6 (GDF6), is expressed in hypertrophic chondrocytes during embryonic development of long bones, and implicated as a regulator of the growth and maintenance of articular cartilage. BMP-13 is also expressed at the boundaries of developing carpals, tarsals, and vertebrae, and mutations in the BMP-13 gene, have been identified in both familial and sporadic cases of Klippel-Feil syndrome (KFS), a congenital disorder of spinal segmentation. Functional BMP-13 is a disulfide-linked homodimer consisting of two 120 amino acid polypeptide chains, derived by proteolytic processing of a biologically inactive precursor protein.
Purified recombinant protein - lyophilised
Reconstitute with 500ul distilled water Care should be taken during reconstitution as the protein may appear as a film at the bottom of the vial. Bio-Rad recommend that the vial is gently mixed after reconstitution.
Purified recombinant BMP-13 expressed in E.coli
The ED50 was determined by its ability to induce alkaline phosphatase production by ATDC-5 chondrogenic cells in the range of 2.0-3.0 µg/ml.

Prior to reconstitution store at +4oC. After reconstitution store at -20oC. Storage in frost-free freezers is not recommended. This product should be stored undiluted. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing as this may denature the antibody. Should this product contain a precipitate we recommend microcentrifugation before use.
