    • Mouse anti Human Annexin V monoclonal antibody, clone 1F4-1A5 recognizes human Annexin V, also known as Annexin A5, Anchorin CII or Calphobindin I. Annexin A5 is a 320 amino acid polypeptide, including an initiator methionine at its N-terminus, with a ~36kDa predicted moecular mass. The annexin A5 polypeptide contains four annexin repeats and a number of potentially modified lysine residues. Annexin A5 is an anionic anticoagulent protein expressed on placental and vascular endothelium (Grundmann et al. 1988, Römisch et al. 1990), it binds to phospholipids present at the cytosolic face of the plasma membrane and is a potent inhibitor of protein kinase C phosphorylation of anexin I and myosin light chain substrates(Schlaepfer et al. 1992). Annexin A5 also plays a role in keratinocyte migration and plasminogen activator activity (Nakao et al. 1994).

Abnormal Annexin A5 expression has been implicated in the obstetric clinical manifestations of antiphospholipid syndrome (Singh et al. 2013) and in patients presenting with the autimmune rheumatic disorder, systemic lupus erythematosus (Wahezi et al. 2013).

Mouse anti human annexin V, clone 1F4-1A5 has been succesfully used for the demonstration of Annexin V expression in human placental tissues by both Western blotting and immunohistochemical studies of formalin fixed, paraffin embedded material (Ota et al. 2013).
