Mouse anti Guinea Pig CD90 antibody, clone CT4 used for the detection of CD90 (homing receptor) expressing cells in the guinea pig lungs by flow cytometry
Image caption:
Monitoring of activated T cells in the infected lungs during therapy. Percentage of activated CD4+ T cells (A) and CD8+ T cells (B) in drug or drug plus MIP group were evaluated at different time points during the course of therapy. The percentage of respective cells in infected control group has been shown in the inset of bar diagram. Activated T cells were analyzed based on the expression of homing receptors as shown in the representative contour plots and compared at 15 days and 30 days of therapy. In each plot, region R6 represents T cells with high homing receptor expression and the corresponding percentage value is mentioned inside the region. Data represents the mean value of four animals in each group. * p<0.05. Uninfected animal (naive) was taken as uninfected negative control and untreated animal at 30 days post infection was taken as infected positive control.

    • Mouse anti Guinea Pig CD90 antibody, clone CT4 recognizes guinea pig THY-1 (CD90), a small but heavily glycosylated member of the immunoglobulin superfamily. Clone CT4 was originally identified as recognizing a guinea pig homing receptor (Kraal et al. 1986) and later confirmed as recognizing the guinea pig homologue of human and rodent CD90 (Schäfer et al. 1999) by purification and microsequencing. Guinea Pig CD90 is notable for its level of N-linked glycosylation, rendering it an apparent molecular mass of ~36kDa, higher than that seen in most other species where CD90 has been identified and characterized.

Guinea pig CD90 (according to Uniprot entry Q9WUR5) demonstrates 82% amino acid identity with human CD90, 74% with murine CD90 and 76% with rat.

Guinea pig CD90 is highly expressed in the brain and unlike other species is is also expressed on most resting B lymphocytes (Schäfer et al. 1999)

Mouse anti Guinea Pig CD90 antibody, clone CT4 has been used extensively for the flow cytometric analysis of guinea pig cell populations (Gupta et al. 2012).
