Bovine thyroglobulin, a precursor of the iodated thyroid hormones thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3) that affect protein, fat and carbohydrate metabolism. Thyroglobulin is produced by thyrocytes within the thyroid gland and is stored within the follicular lumen.
