- Kinesin Heavy Chain
Mouse anti Kinesin Heavy Chain antibody, clone H2 recognises the heavy chain of kinesin toward the N-terminus. The epitope is located in the region of amino acids 420-445. Kinesins are microtubule associated motor proteins, responsible for converting nucleoside triphosphate released energy into mechanical energy. Kinesin-1 exists as a homodimer of 120-130 kDa chains, known as heavy chains. Associated with this dimer when purified from brain homogenates are light chains of 60-70 kDa. The light chains are involved in binding of kinesin to organelles and appear to have regulatory functions. They are not essential for motility generation. |
